What do we think about Ripple Pea Protein Milk?

The world is turning to more plant based foods for improvements in health or even because of basic food intolerances, like lactose in milk. There are many plant based milks on the market including almond milk, oat milk, soy milk, coconut milk, and even more. Many of these plant milks are low in calories and low in fat, however many plant milks do have enough protein to be comparable to cows milk. A new type of plant milk has entered the market, pea milk! This is one of the most comparable plant milks to cows milk because of its higher protein content. The most popular pea milk is by a brand called ripple.1 Ripple is mostly made of pea protein and water, and has all 9 essential amino acids. Ripple is high in protein, monounsaturated fats, and calcium, but low in fat, sodium, and overall calories. Ripple also prides themselves on being healthier and safer with half the sugar content than 2% milk, 50% more calcium than 2% milk, and being free of all 9 of the major allergens, including gluten.2 This milk can be used like normal milk, like being served over cereal, in cooking, in baking, or drunk straight from a glass.

Ripple has many different pea milk products including the basic ripple, ripple kids, ripple half & half, and ripple shake ups/protein shakes.2

  • Ripple Kids has added prebiotics and 50mg DHA omega 3 and choline.
  • Ripple half & half for coffee with 0g sugar and still contains monounsaturated fats.
  • Ripple protein shakes are even higher in protein with 20g protein per serving. This product also has more carbohydrates in it making this a great snack as it is a carb-protein combo.
  • Ripple shake ups are kids protein shakes with 13g of protein and are fortified with many micronutrients like vitamin D, calcium, vitamin D, vitamin B12, and more.

Ripple also has an important mission to help with CO2 emissions and the overuse of water caused by cows milk and almond milk respectively.2 They are a Certified B corp company as well, this means they must have “high social and environmental performance”.3 B corporation is a non-profit company trying to make all businesses for good. Ripple has already saved over 252,000 pounds of carbon dioxide when compared to cow milks carbon dioxide emissions.2 Ripple has also saved 1,859,320,000 gallons of water during production compared to the amount of water used in almond milk production. This milk helps to save the environment along with being healthy for anyone wanting to make that switch from cows milk to plant based milks.
